Lawrence - It’s Not All About You
It’s not all about you!!! That’s what I was telling my Dad on the phone earlier (it’s a long story.) What’s not a long story is how we landed this project. During my time working at Flightless, Kevin Conway had asked me if I’d heard of this band from New York called Lawrence. I said no, shortly checked out their music right after, and just like that, Lawrence gained a new fan. If you haven’t heard them, stop what you’re doing really quick and listen to the song ‘Casualty’ (my personal fave.) Banger, am I right!? Anyway… Kevin had ended up sending their management team a cold email, expressing his love for the group and desire to make a music video for them in Chicago. Next thing you know, we’re on a flight to LA to meet with them and brainstorm concepts. Meeting Gracie and Clyde (the extremely talented sister & brother who lead the band) and hanging out with them over breakfast was amazing — I was equally as impressed by their creative visions for the video as I was by their musical talent. Just two straight-up really cool peeps, oozing with passion, imagination, and drive.
Not much editing in this one since it was a one-er…. but there is a hidden cut someonewhere in the video if you can find it. The majority of the work on this one was keyframing the position and scale of the footage to re-frame things, and a touch of time-remapping here and there.
