"Mayan Bounce" - VivaLaVam

VivaLaVam - Mayan Bounce

This was one of my first ever ‘legit’ music videos. At the time, I was going to school at Michigan State University and I was involved in a few video clubs on campus, most notably MSU Telecasters. Adam Bussell was also involved in Telecasters and contacted me about a music video he was working on for Detroit-based rap group VivaLaVam. He was one of the first people to ever take my talent seriously and trust me with a creative challenge — thank you Adam! He ended up out on the West Coast in LA, creating tons of impressive work, on top of being a hilarious actor.

I remember being really impressed with the footage when I started editing. Like “Damn, this is in 4K?? Holy crap!” Little old me was so used to editing crappy 1080p Canon T3i videos, this was like cooking with gas for the first time. Adam provided lots of inspiration for style and direction, and let me do my thing. After a few rounds of back & forth, building out more FX, we shipped it out! This project will always have a special place for me and reminds me of my Michigan State Era. (For those wondering, I transferred out of MSU after 1 year and finished college at Columbia College Chicago.)
